Project Overview:
Built in Xenia, Ohio, this 42′ x 64′ post-frame building was designed to give the owner a large, open space for vehicle and equipment storage while still feeling like a truly custom building.
The owner wanted more than a basic storage structure, so the exterior was finished with several high-end features, including cultured-stone wainscot, black trim, a custom overhead door, decorative windows, a cupola and coordinated exterior lighting. Together, those details give the building a distinctive finished look without taking away from its practical purpose.
Inside, the clear-span design provides 2,688 square feet of flexible storage space that can adapt as the owner’s needs change. Spray foam insulation was added later, making the building even more comfortable and usable throughout the year.
The Building:
This 42′ x 64′ post-frame storage building combines a traditional gable design with architectural details that give it the appearance of a custom residential outbuilding. White vertical steel siding is contrasted with black trim, cultured-stone wainscot and a steep 6/12 roof pitch.
The front elevation is the focal point of the design. A group of three gable-end windows above the overhead door brings natural light into the upper portion of the building while adding visual interest to the large gable. Black gooseneck lighting above the doors and windows complements the dark trim and provides another residential-style detail. A cupola at the roof peak completes the exterior design.
